Clinton Street Neighborhood Greenway turns 30

Clinton Street is Portland’s original neighborhood greenway, having been established in 1985 as a safe, comfortable space for neighbors, local business, families and kids to move about inner SE Portland neighborhoods. Despite this long history of being a quiet neighborhood street, in 2015 too many people attempt to use Clinton Street as a high-speed shortcut, and daily traffic volume is two to three times higher than the goal the City of Portland has set. Everybody wants Clinton Street to be a safer street with lower volumes of auto traffic and slower vehicle speeds where neighbors, pedestrians, and bicycles are given priority, and people stop to shop and support our local businesses.
